San Antonio, Tex.
by Captain Joyce Takeuchi –
“A Journey of Holiness, Then and Now” was the theme of the Third International Wesleyan/Holiness Women Clergy Conference, held recently in San Antonio, Texas. The conference’s goal was to equip and encourage divinely-called women in ministry.
More than 400 women came together for three days of teaching, sharing and dynamic worship. The Salvation Army was well represented, with a total of 158 delegates from commands and territories including the United States, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Zambia and Malawi.
The conference included workshops during the day, and a dynamic worship service each evening. Saturday, Major Anne Pickup was the plenary speaker. Preaching on “Rejoicing in Holiness,” she challenged the delegates to change their concept and perceptions of what it means to experience joy in holiness.
She concluded her presentation with a time of praise and joy to the Lord as we sang, “What the Lord has done for me, I cannot tell it all.”
The conference concluded with a challenge by Rev. Dr. Delia Neusch-Olver of the Free Methodist Church, for us never to forget the focus of our ministry, which is the harvest. We left refreshed, renewed and recharged for the work of the ministry.
