Kirkland

The Eastside Salvation Army Worship and Community Center opened recently to serve people in the Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond, Wash., areas. The new Kirkland facility was dedicated by Northwest Divisional General Secretary Major Kurt Burger. “This building is very well located for outreach,” said Burger. “It will enhance the Army’s work. We are looking forward to an aggressive and vibrant ministry from this area.”
The Eastside Corps, originally a grocery store, shares the building with a thrift store. The social service office remains in Bellevue, while the division’s newest corps is in Kirkland. The corps is in the heart of the small city, just blocks from the east shore of Lake Washington.
Bellevue Advisory Council Chairman William Massengill greeted the public attending the dedication, and Burger dedicated the new local officers. A reception and tour followed. “We look forward to making every effort possible to serve the community,” said Envoy Christopher Parker, in-charge.
The new center will offer a variety of programs, including youth recreation, music groups, outreach teams, Bible study clubs, and an after-school program starting in the fall.
