California boy sings the National Anthem at a Giants baseball game.

By Melissa Felkins

Eandi Sosa Valenzuela had the chance of a lifetime July 24 when he sang the National Anthem in front of a sold-out crowd at AT&T Park for a San Francisco Giants professional baseball game.

Through his involvement with Salvation Army programs and the Seaside Police Activities League (PAL), Valenzuela—who is 12 years old—is well known and has received many opportunities to sing around the Monterey Peninsula area.

He is actively involved with Monterey Peninsula Corps youth programs such as music night, teen youth group and leading worship on Sunday mornings. This is his third year attending the Music and Creative Arts camp at Camp Redwood Glen, Scotts Valley, Calif. For the past two years he has received awards for drama and performed on soloist night. This year he was featured soloist in the drama “Grenade,” singing an adaptation of Bruno Mars’s song of the same name.

Valenzuela received the opportunity to audition for soloist at the July 24 game from the Junior Giants program, through the PAL program.
