Major Neil Saunders, a fourth-generation Salvation Army Officer, has been appointed to run the Napa operation.
Saunders, who has 52 years of Salvation Army experience, was general secretary for the Adult Rehabilitation Center. He oversaw the communications and overall functions of 26 substance abuse treatment centers within the Western Territory of The Salvation Army.
Saunders recently spent three months in Haiti working with the country to rebuild homes for those who lost everything in the wake of last year’s earthquake.
“I have many goals for The Salvation Army of Napa,” Saunders said in a news release. “Of utmost importance is to help people in need come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal Savior. I also want the Napa Corps to continuously be available to meet the need at the point of need.”
The Napa Corps’ signature program is a five-day-a-week free lunch program. On some days, the program feeds more than 70 people, the Corps said.
The Salvation Army also runs numerous youth programs, including summer camping opportunities and musical training. They also operate an Emergency Disaster response canteen.
