The Salvation Army is monitoring closely the devastating earthquake in Taipei, Taiwan. The 7.6 magnitude quake killed more than 2,000 and left hundreds of thousands homeless.
According to Commissioner Fred Ruth, International Secretary for the South Pacific and East Asia, the Taiwan Regional Headquarters in Taipei has reported all Salvation Army officers, staff and children are all right.
“Missing persons inquiries should be directed to the regional command offices,” states Ruth.
Formerly linked with Hong Kong, Taiwan became a region on January 1, 1997. There are currently 10 officers, five corps, and 300 senior and junior soldiers and adherents.
