Retired officers from the four U.S. territories and Canada/Bermuda recently met in St. Petersburg, Fla., for their 67th Annual Reunion Weekend. Commissioners David and Doreen Edwards, Western Territorial leaders, were guest speakers. Also featured were Pasadena soldiers Steve and Barbara Allen, who provided special music. SAROA President Commissioner David Baxendale (R) presided at the opening event, a welcome banquet.
The theme “On the Way” was used throughout the weekend and was prominent during the Saturday evening dinner theater. In this event, a dramatic presentation recalled significant events of Army history during the current century.
During the annual business meeting, Lt. Colonel Leon Ferraez (R) was elected president of SAROA for the coming year, and Commissioner James Osborne (R) was elected vice-president.
Present throughout the weekend were Lt. Colonels Donald and Marian Faulkner, Florida Divisional leaders. Lt. Colonel Marian Faulkner conducted a memorial service, honoring the memories of retired officers promoted to Glory during the past 12 months.
Commissioner David Edwards spoke on the subject of Christian hope during the Sunday morning Holiness Meeting. The SAROA Brass, led by Commissioner W. R. H. Goodier (R), provided music during the weekend.
