Keynote speaker Andrew Young brings with him a lifetime of service to others: from his roles as civil rights leader, three-term congressman, United Nations ambassador and mayor of Atlanta, Young has emerged as one of the nation’s outstanding leaders.

National Commander Robert A. Watson stated: “We are highly pleased and honored that our friend Andrew Young has accepted the National Advisory Board’s invitation to keynote this important conference. His national prominence and strong reputation for leadership and Christian values make him the ideal choice. He knows the Army and understands today’s world and the unique contributions the Army can bring to it as we enter a new millennium.”

Following his graduation from Howard University and Hartford Theological Seminary, Young pastored small Congregational churches in Alabama and Georgia. In 1961, he worked as a top aid to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., during the civil rights movement.
